7 Detroit schools told they won't be part of recovery district

From The Detroit News: Seven low-performing Detroit public schools will not be part of the new statewide recovery district this fall. Detroit officials say Bow, Carstens, Priest, Pulaski and Wilkins elementary-middle schools as well as Garvey Academy and Palmer Park Preparatory Academy — all which were on a state list of persistently low-achieving schools — will have another year to work on their reform plans. Later this week, the chancellor of the Education Achievement System, John Covington, will announce which Detroit schools will be taken over by the state and put into the new system.
