Miami-Dade, Broward County may face fines for large class sizes

From The Miami Herald: The Miami-Dade and Broward County public school districts may once again face hefty fines from the state of Florida for not meeting class size requirements. The precise amount of fines levied won’t be released by the Florida Department of Education until next month, but the figures provided by each district to the state indicate that neither county was able to fully comply with state limits on class size. Last year, Broward paid the state $732,000 and Miami-Dade paid $1.6 million in penalties for not meeting requirements. The law limits class size to 18 students in prekindergarten through third grade; 22 in fourth through eighth grade; and 25 for high school.
