State board votes to shut down Boston charter school

Officials say there hasn't been enough academic progress at Uphams Corner Charter School
TheMassachusetts Board of Elementary and Secondary Education has voted to shut down Uphams Corner Charter School in Boston over the protest of school leaders, parents and students. The state's commissioner of Elementary and Secondary Education recommended the closing because of the lack of academic progress at the middle school, which serves about 175 students in grades 5-8.
