$545 million school bond approved in Bellevue (Wash.) district

Money will pay for rebuilding several facilities

Voters in the Bellevue (Wash.) School District were easily approving the district's largest-ever construction bond measure. The $545 million proposition to rebuild three elementary schools, two middle schools and Bellevue High School was winning more than the 60 percent supermajority required for construction measures. Other school-construction bond measures were going down to defeat in Renton, Snoqualmie Valley and Snohomish school districts.

EARLIER: The Bellevue (Wash.) School District will hold a special election March 11 to seek approval of $545 million bond proposal. The measure would provide money for a $100 million renovation to Bellevue High School; reconstruction of three elementary schools; new science labs and classrooms at Sammamish High School; and modernization of Tyee and Chinook Middle Schools.
