Sensitive computer data lost at Johns Hopkins University

Tapes included social security numbers, bank account information.

Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore is notifying thousands of university employees and hospital patients that backup computer tapes containing personal information about them have been missing for seven weeks. The tapes held Social Security numbers, addresses and direct-deposit bank account information for 52,567 former and current employees.
