Board approves lease with Apple to put tablet devices in schools in 2012-13

From The St. Paul Pioneer Press: The Farmington (Minn.) district will be among the first in the state to put iPads in the hands of every student. The school board has approved the first of three expected lease agreements with Applethat will bring nearly 7,000 of the tablet computers to the district in the next year. Teachers will get iPads first and train over the summer before the devices are distributed to students throughout the 2012-13 school year. The district will lease the tablets from Apple for three years at a total projected cost of $2.7 million. The district's capital improvement fund is paying for the devices.
