New York governor wants to improve state universities

Panel appointed to study overhaul of higher education in New York.

New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer has appointed a commission to recommend how to overhaul higher education in the state. Spitzer's goal is to put New York’s public universities on a par with those in California, North Carolina and Wisconsin, which are considered among the nation’s finest.
