From The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: More than 100 office workers' jobs in the Pittsburghschool district could be at risk this summer because of budget cutsthat now are expected to be far deeper than previously expected. Superintendent Linda Lane says there will be a 50 percent cut to the central office's $73.9 million budget. It wasn't immediately known how many positions would be eliminated. The central office employs about 270 administrative workers. Administrators hope to soften the effect of the cutbacks through retirements and voluntary moves to other schools.
