New York City schools urged to remove PCBs from buildings

City’s congressional delegation want school officials to step up remediation efforts
Oct. 8, 2010

PCBs are chemicals that were widely used in construction-related material and lighting components until banned in 1978. The officials are pushing for the replacement of fluorescent light fixtures containing PCBs - a process that could cost $1 billion.
