Interim superintendent chosen in Kansas City (Mo.) district

From The Kansas City Star: A week after its superintendent abruptly quit for a new job in Michigan, the Kansas City (Mo.) school district has a new interim leader. Steve Green, 57, a former superintendent of a sub-school district in New York City and most recently the chief executive of the Kauffman Scholars program in Kansas City, was introduced by the school board Wednesday night. One board member has indicated that Green has raised the possibility of taking the job permanently if all went well. The superintendent's position became available when John Covington, who had led the district for a little more than two years, resigned over what was portrayed to be micromanaging by board members. But the news soon emerged that Covington had another job lined up--he received a lucrative contract to become the chancellor of a new district in Michigan that will oversee worst performing schools in the state.
