Plainfield, Ill., rejects blocks plan for Islamic school

Village board says no to zoning change

From The Joliet Herald-News: The village board in Plainfield, Ill., has rejected a zoning change that would have allowed a proposed Islamic school to open. Without discussion, the village board rejected the zoning change. Furqaan Academy, a school for grades K-8, was planning to open in an industrial building. The quick vote took the academy planners by surprise.
