San Diego's facilities chief leaves for community college post

David Umstot is the third facilities chief to depart since 2004.

Just as the San Diego school district is getting ready to open five new campuses in September, the man in charge of its facilities is leaving for a similar job with the local community college district. David Umstot, who was promoted to executive director of facilities a few months ago, will become vice chancellor of facilities management at the San Diego Community College District.
