Former schools are being torn down in Detroit

May 6, 2010
By the end of June, 10 shuttered schools will be razed
From The Detroit Free Press: Two vacant Detroit public schools -- the former Sherrard and Breitmeyer buildings on the city's east side -- are to be demolished today, and in their place, a new Office of Public Safety headquarters will be built. Ten former schools are to be razed through June -- part of a plan to rid neighborhoods of blighted facilities and create more than 100 jobs.
