Suspensions of girls soccer players at Needham High in Massachusetts ignites debate

From The Boston Globe: Three decades after hazing became an issue in Massachusetts, many students and parents still are confused about what constitutes hazing. And authorities who thought they had made strides against it over the past decade are disappointed to hear so many people playing down the seriousness of recent incidents.

EARLIER...from The Boston Globe: Educators and sports officials from around Massachusetts are defending the suspension of members of the Needham High School girls’ soccer team for allegedly hazing younger teammates, saying the sharp response was necessary, despite the furor it caused. The suspended students are accused of blindfolding freshmen on the team, leading them around on dog leashes, and smashing pies in their faces, according to a school official.
