From The Lexington Herald-Leader: Arch Turner, former superintendent of Breathitt County (Ky.) Schools, has been sentenced to serve two years in federal prison and pay a $250,000 fine. Turner admitted that he took part in buying votes in the 2010 primary election in the county.

MAY 2012...From The Lexington Herald-Leader: Breathitt County (Ky.) schools Superintendent Arch Turner, facing federal vote-buying charges, has quit. Turner has notified state Education Commissioner Terry Holliday by letter that he is resigning. Holliday had asked Turner to resign last month. Turner is charged with conspiracy, providing money to buy votes, trying to get witness to not give information to authorities or to lie, and lying to an FBI agent in connection with the U.S. Senate election in 2010.
