Ohio State announces effort to boost digital capabilities
From The Columbus Dispatch: Ohio State University officials have announced a plan to revamp classroom technology capabilities and to meet students’ demands in a digital age. Officials say the two-year initiative, Digital First, is a “first-of-its-kind program” that will transform campus. The idea is to use devices that many students already have, such as laptops, smartphones or tablets, and to provide support for faculty members who wish to enhance teaching by using them. Digital First will not require that students or teachers purchase additional technology. To ensure the program’s success, 75 percent of teaching spaces on campus will receive wireless Internet upgrades by July 2013.
