Schools opt for artificial turf
Schools and coaches often pride themselves on meticulous care of their grass fields, but more and more public schools are turning to artificial turf fields, which can be used for a variety of sports, including football, soccer, lacrosse and field hockey. The Anne Arundel County (Md.) district has plans to install synthetic fields at all of its 12 high schools. In Montgomery County, Md., and Loudoun County, Va., school districts are studying the possibility of turfing all of their stadiums.
