Coke sues Jefferson Parish (La.) district

Soft drink company says school system breached contract when it chose Pepsi as district's only soft drink provider

The Coca-Cola company has sued the Jefferson Parish (La.) School District, contending that the board breached existing beverage contracts by hiring Pepsi last year as the sole drink dispenser for all schools in the system. The lawsuit focuses strictly on East Jefferson High School in Metairie, one of 10 schools that allegedly signed multiyear contracts with Coca-Cola. The plaintiff, listed as Louisiana Coca-Cola Bottling Company, is requesting $62,000 in compensation, in accordance with the terms of East Jefferson's contract, the suit states.
