March 9, 2009

Stephens College in Columbia, Mo., is closing two of its residence halls as a cost-cutting measure. The cuts mean many of the 754 students who are used to living alone in their residence hall rooms now will have a roommate.Stephens requires all its students to live on campus, and many rooms are single-occupancy. The student housing will close this fall. College officials declined to say how much they will save. They also will get some needed repairs out of the way while the buildings are shuttered.
