Chicago school system says legislator owes it back rent for office space

District's inspector general says state representative hasn't paid rent for 7 years

FromThe Chicago Sun-Times: Illinois State Rep. Monique Davis has been occupying a rent-free Chicago school board building for seven years and owes more than $500,000 in rent, leaseholder taxes and penalties on it, a new report by the schools inspector general says. Chicago Public School officials last month demanded back rent from Davis and have moved to evict her from the building Davis has used for years as her legislative district office.
