Massachusetts town outsources school food services

Decision in Duxbury will eliminate 27 jobs
July 22, 2010

From The Boston Globe: Duxbury (Mass.) school officials have decided to contract with Chartwells food service to operate the cafeterias in the town’s schools, a move that cuts longstanding ties with 27 lunchroom employees. School officials say the decision to hire a private company rather than operate the lunchrooms themselves was needed to keep the food service from losing money every year.
