Detroit science museum will be home to charter middle school

Museum expansion will include space for school focusing on science and math

As part of an expansion and face lift, the Detroit Science Center will welcome a science and math charter middle school to its site. Officials from museum and the University Prep charter school system are working together to create the University Prep Science and Math Middle School. The school will open at another undisclosed site this fall while the new museum structure is built. An affiliated high school eventually will be added at an undetermined location.
