Pasco County (Fla.) board says shift to 4-day week is unlikely

District task force looked at possible change as a way to cut costs

From The Tampa Tribune: The Pasco County (Fla.) board won't be shifting its schools to a four-day week anytime soon, if ever. No formal vote was taken, but after board members got a first look at a task force report on the feasibility of a four-day week, each board member said they don't anticipate making a change. Among concerns board members raised were added child care costs for parents, a lack of evidence that student achievement would improve and the fact that the district already is in the midst of a lot of changes.
