Grossmont (Calif.) district takes step forward in planning new high school

Residents want district to move more quickly to construct high school.

The Grossmont (Calif.) Union High School District is creating a commission to study the possible construction of a school in the Alpine area. The action is a hopeful sign for residents that have expressed concern about the lack of progress in securing a site to build a school in their area. The district passed a $274 million bond measure in 2004, but officials are concerned that it will not have enough to build the high school and complete other construction projects.
