Kauffman Foundation opens a charter school in Kansas City

From The Kansas City Star: After years of studying and experimenting in education, the Kauffman Foundation is opening its own charter school in Kansas City, Mo., with a hundred fifth-graders. Kauffman School's temporary home used to be a printing facility; in two years the school will move to its permanent home, the former campus of the Church of the Nazarene world headquarters. It will add one grade at a time over the next seven years; eventually, the 1,000 students in grades five through 12 will attend. The Kauffman Foundation's involvement in education includes its support for Teach for America, a national organization that recruits top graduates from fields not necessarily involving education and trains them to serve in the nation’s neediest classrooms, and for KIPP charter schools.
