Waterbury, Conn., school renovation will get more state money

Costs rise after structural problems are uncovered at the Duggan School
From The Waterbury Republican-American: Connecticut lawmakers have agreed to help Waterburycover a huge cost overrun in the renovation and expansion of the 114-year-old Duggan School. State lawmakers had previously agreed to a $34.7 million budget, with the state covering 77.5 percent of cost. Serious structural weaknesses were uncovered after construction began last summer. These spiked cost estimates by $6.5 million. State lawmakers have approved a budget increase of $5 million.
