From The Joplin Globe: Voters in the Joplin (Mo.) School District have approved a $62 million bond issue that provides the funds to rebuild schools destroyed last year in a devastating tornado. The estimated rebuilding cost for all the schools and other associated projects is $185 million. The rest of the money is coming from insurance, government funding and donations.

The money also would help pay for community storm shelters throughout the school district, and repairs and upgrades to elementary schools undamaged in the devastating May 22 storm.
