St. Louis district takes over failing charter school

Ethel Hedgeman Lyle Academy couldn't pay its bills
April 30, 2010
From The St. Louis Post-Dispatch: St. Louis school officials have seized control of a downtown charter school's two campuses, at the urging of the state, after the charter school fell so behind on paying bills that regulators feared for the welfare of its 800 students. As of this morning, Ethel Hedgeman Lyle Academy does not exist. Its students will finish the year at their current campuses, but the schools will be operated by St. Louis Public Schools.
