Upgrading school bus surveillance

Detroit area districts install digital video cameras to monitor behavior

Spurred by recent cases of bus misconduct, school officials across the Detroit area are investing in high-tech digital video recorder cameras. The digital video recorders are more reliable and easier to use, but they aren't cheap: The Wayne-Westland Community School District recently outfitted its entire fleet of 88 buses with the new cameras--two on each bus--at a cost of $260,000.
