City attorney decries "tepid response" of San Diego Community College to allegations of questionable spending

Developers reportedly made handsome profit in real estate deal with college.

San Diego City Attorney Michael Aguirre has criticized the San Diego Community College District for what he described as a “tepid response” to allegations that taxpayer bond money was misused. The college district chancellor, Constance Carroll, has asked prosecutors to investigate a 2006 property deal in which two well-connected developers made a half-million dollars in nine months by selling a downtown duplex to the district. Aguirre believes more should be done.
