A $300 million bond proposal in the Tacoma (Wash.) district appears to be headed to defeat. The money would have enabled the district to renovate Stewart Middle School, rebuild Hunt and Baker middle schools, and carry out major additions at Wilson High School.

EARLIER: The Tacoma (Wash.) district has placed a $300 million bond proposal on the March ballot. The bonds would pay for modernization or replacement of three middle school campuses and one high school campus.
