Charter schools grow in Kansas City (Mo.) district

About 23 percent of those enrolled in public schools attend charters

The number of public school students attending charter schools in the Kansas City (Mo.) district has increased by 15 percent this year. This academic year, about 23 percent of schoolchildren in Kansas City public schools are getting their education at one of the city’s 18 public charter schools. Kansas City has more than 7,000 students in those schools.
