Ruling lets construction move forward in Goddard (Kan.) district
From The Wichita Eagle: A judge has ruled that the Goddard (Kan.) school district can go forward with construction of three new schools without the fire-resistant ceilings that the city of Wichita tried to get included in the plans. Judge Mark Vining ruled that state law prevents Wichita from imposing building standards more stringent than those approved by architects for the state Board of Education. Goddard school superintendent Charles Edmonds says the ruling will enable the district to open its two new schools — an elementary school and a middle school — for the 2010 school year.
