Matching funds are needed to keep $62 million grant for teacher pay

From The Austin American-Statesman: The Austin (Texas) school district has learned that it could be in jeopardy of losing $62.3 million in federal aid for teacher pay if state and local funding doesn't come through as planned. In their bid for a five-year Teacher Incentive Fund grant, district officials had told the U.S. Department of Education that they planned on using the money to expand a program that helps lure quality teachers and principals to schools in East Austin. District officials pledged $4.3 million annually in local money and said they were expecting to receive about $5 million annually from the state.
