State charter school board would work to open more campuses

From The Indianapolis Star: IndianaGov. Mitch Daniels has signed legislation to expand charter schools and establish a statewide voucher program. The charter school legislation establishesa new state charter school board designed to open more charters. The voucher legislation makes Indiana the second state to let parents redirect tax money from their local school districts to pay for private school tuition. But unlike Ohio, which limits vouchers to students at low-scoring public schools, Indiana students can apply for vouchers as long as they first attend public school for at least one year and fall within income limits.
