Flashing signs will be installed near 2 Puyallup (Wash.) schools

ThePuyallup (Wash.) school district and Pierce County officials have given the green light to erect flashing signs near two South Hill schools. An agreement calls for the school district to provide the county four flashing school-crossing signs and $10,000 for the signs’ installation and maintenance. The county agrees to erect and maintain the lighted signs, which are called warning beacons. The signs will be posted near Stahl Junior High School and Brouillet Elementary School. They have sat in a school district warehouse while the district and the county wrestled with who should be responsible for operation, maintenance and legal liability of the lights.
