Educational aides get pink slip in New York City schools

672 employees were laid off at the end of last week
Oct. 10, 2011

From The New York Times: New York City has laid off 672 school employees in the largest single-agency layoff since Mayor Michael Bloomberg took office in 2002. The city averted laying off thousands of teachers earlier this year by brokering an agreement with their union, but it could not find a way to spare the school aides, parent coordinators, family workers and others who work in support jobs.
