Police sweep nets more than 400 cellphones at New York City middle school

Students can't have cellphones in city schools.

The New York City Police Department conducted a random sweep for prohibited electronic items among the 900-plus students at a middle school on the Upper West Side, and confiscated 404 cellphones, 69 iPods, 23 other electronic devices, two knives and one imitation gun.
