Des Moines district wants to create "sustainability academy"

Program for high school juniors and seniors would focus on conservation

Des Moines (Iowa) public school officials want to raise $30 million to create a new educational program focused on energy and environmental conservation, and the jobs both fields are expected to create. The Iowa Energy and Sustainability Academy would be a two-year program for juniors and seniors. Students would work with companies or universities on projects that deal with such things as alternative energy and green building design.
