District will build a new elementary, upgrade its high school.

Voters in the Chatfield (Minn.) School District have approved a $19.6 million bond package. The district will spend $16.4 million on a new elementary school and $3.2 million to upgrade the existing high school. The new elementary building will be built on the outskirts of town and replace an existing elementary in downtown Chatfield. The district had failed in its five previous attempts, going back to 1997, to persuade voters to approve spending for an elementary school.
