Some residents in St. Francis, Minn., want district to build a new high school.

Independent School District 15 in St. Francis, Minn., has forwarded to the Minnesota Department of Education a citizens' petition that seeks to put a $65 million bond request on the November ballot. The petition says the bonds would enable the district to build a 2,100-student, 365,000-square-foot high school. Proponents of a new high school circulated the petition after the district facilities committee did not include a new high school in its recommendations. Meanwhile, the district is building an addition to the existing high school.
