New Jersey officials plan to borrow $500 million to tackle school construction backlog

The delays have left many frustrated districts unsure if their students will ever get out of temporary classrooms. After months of uncertainty, state officials say shovels may be in the ground soon on many stalled school construction projects. Last month, the state said it will borrow $500 million for the state Schools Development Authority to start building again.
