$818,000 federal grant awarded to Joplin (Mo.) school district

Money will help schools recover from deadly 2011 tornado

News release: The U.S. Department of Education's Office of Safe and Healthy Students has awarded the Joplin (Mo.) school district an Extended Services Project School Emergency Response to Violence (SERV) grant of $818,185 to support ongoing recovery efforts following last year's deadly tornado. Project SERV provides support to districts and higher-education institutions that have experienced a significant traumatic event and need resources to respond, recover, and re-establish a safe environment for students.
