Monroe City school chief Kathleen Harris says board violated open meetings law when it suspended her

From The Monroe Star-News: Monroe City (La.) School Superintendent Kathleen Harris, who has been suspended by her school board, contends in a lawsuit that board members violated the state's open meeting laws when they met to suspend her. The board voted last week to suspend the superintendent while the district conducts an investigation into the operations of the district during her tenure as superintendent. Harris says the board's language on an amended agenda didn't sufficiently inform the public that the board was to consider suspending Harris.

School Board conducts an investigation into the operation of the district during her tenure. The areas under investigation include failure to follow correct policies and procedures related to personnel, failure to provide accurate and timely budget information to the board, failure to provide and effectively communicate or collaborate with the board, failure to control fiscal accounting, and failure to provide instructional support to educators.
