Police notified after statement was made in a counseling session.

A Jacksonville, Fla., middle school teacher has been arrested after allegedly threatening to kill a school district official. Authorities say Thomas Henry Payne, 52, a teacher at Darnell-Cookman Middle School, has been charged with corruption by threat against a public servant. The teacher's mental health counselor notified police about the alleged threat. He was worried about losing his teaching job because of his absences and reportedly said that if he were fired, he would kill a particular director for the Duval County school system. The counselor asked him to recant his statement, and when he refused, she had him sign a waiver so she could inform police.
