Miami-Dade County breaks ground on K-8 school

Doral facility will ease crowding at nearby schools.

Officials of the Miami-Dade school district and the city of Doral gathered for a groundbreaking ceremony for a new K-8 Center. It will be able to accommodate 1,642 students and will feature amenities such as a cyber café, wireless Internet access in classrooms and a black box theater for student performances. The new facility will provide enrollment relief to the nearby Eugenia B. Thomas K-8 Center, which now has more than 2,000 students.
