District needs to eliminate $200 million deficit
From The Detroit Free Press: About 40 Detroit public schools will close, and the district will impose layoffs, furloughs and other concessions upon its staff to help close a $200 million deficit, emergency financial manager Robert Bobb says. Neither Bobb nor district officials would say which schools will close. The plan isn't a surprise. School officials talked last year of possibly closing 60 schools over two years.
