District will build K-5 section and hold off on middle school section

From The St. Petersburg Times: The Hernando County (Fla.) School Board has decided to build only part of a K-8 school planned near Weeki Wachee, Fla. The K-5 portion of the school will be built in time to open in fall of 2011, and the shell of the middle school portion will be built at the same time, but the interior and the gymnasium won't be completed until needed. By going that route, the district will lop off about $4.8 million from the $33.7 million construction cost.
