Long tenure gives Montgomery County (Md.) superintendent time to achieve successes
From The Washington Post: Jerry Weast is about to complete his 10th year as superintendent of the Montgomery County (Md.) school district. Among the nation's 25 largest districts, Weast has the longest tenure of any superintendent except one, J. Alvin Wilbanks of Gwinnett County, Ga., who has served for 13 years. The average superintendent exits after three years, driven out by school board politics, union antipathy or the promise of a better job.
