Columbus, Ohio, instructor says her action was intended to be a joke
From The Columbus Dispatch: Two days before a disciplinary hearing on the matter, a Columbus, Ohio, elementary school teacher who wrote "loser" on a student's arm has resigned. Amy M. Butterfield, a teacher at Linden STEM Elementary, said in a letter to the school board that her action was meant to be a joke; the student found the joke funny, she said, and began "laughing hysterically" when she wrote "loser" on his arm in orange washable marker.
